Save the bunnies:

A news article that I actually saw on Twitter caught my attention last week, it was about the use of angora fur in high street shops.

Link to article

The article touched on the recent use of angora fur in shops such as Topshop and H&M.

In order to get the fur needed for some of their products innocent Angora rabbits were shed of their fur in horrible, unsanitary farms in China. Recent video footage showed the rabbits squealing in pain as their fur was sheared from their body.
Since the videos emerged popular shop, H&M have taken all angora products off the shelves but Topshop have not. Personally I think it is ridiculous that Topshop haven't followed suit and even now have many angora products still for sale!

It has changed my opinion on Topshop hugely and I will not be going back there for a while unless this problem gets sorted!

There she goes again - Miley Cyrus:

Over the past few months Miss Miley Cyrus has been causing quite a stir in the media industry. With provocative outfits, performances, music videos and lyrics, her Hannah Montana days are most definitely over. But has she gone about it the right way? Some her loyal fans grew up with her from the start of Hannah Montana, but with the majority of her fans being younger children watching re-runs of the show on the Disney Channel should she really be sending out this sexualised, provocative image?
Does she need genuine help? Or is she just trying to get into everyone's faces that she is in fact an adult now?

One of her most recent stints was at the MTV VMA awards in Amsterdam where she pulled out a rolled up joint and started smoking it on stage. I'm sure her 10 year old fans will be looking up to her after that.....

In her number one song "We can't stop" she makes reference to the drug "MDMA" also known as Molly "dancing with molly" and this is also apparent in her new song with Will.I.Am "Feelin' Myself" where she sings "everybody trippin like they poppin molly" :

Hopefully we don't see Miley head to rehab anytime soon like many of her other Disney Channel co-stars.

Operation Transformation:

This article confused me a lot, how on earth are these photos possible?

"

Transformation Photos Prove Photoshop Isn't The Only Thing Making Models Look Perfect"

A recent article written by Huffington post shows how anyone can manipulate their audience.
We all think skinny models are definitely photoshopped, I mean how can someone's face look that perfect right?
Wrong!
I was amazed looking through these transformations:

Who knew a few simple steps could have us all fooled? Are the media constantly doing this too us? Creating a fake world for us to look at, to aspire to be?

Visual Essay:

Creative process: Creating my video

To create my video I used iMovie. I wanted to base my entire video on the Mean Girls cafeteria scene:

I then embedded relevant clips into each of the cliques. The films and television shows I used included:

  • Perks of being a Wallflower
  • Gossip Girl
  • High School Musical
  • 17 Again
  • John Tucker Must Die
  • Clueless
  • Lizzie McGuire
  • Project X
  • 21 Jump Street
  • Easy A
I wanted to use specific words to describe what each clique could turn an individual into or an issueT involved with that specific clique:

  1. Freshman - The Outsider
  2. Preps - The Self-obsessed
  3. JV Jocks - Following the crowd
  4. Jocks - The Leader
  5. Unfriendly hotties - Bullies
  6. Girls who eat their feelings - The bullied
  7. Girls who don't eat anything - Anorexics, Depressed
  8. Desperate wannabes - People who will never be themselves
  9. Burnouts - Addiction, trying to follow the crowd
  10. Sexually active band geeks - STIs, Teenage pregnancy
  11. The plastics - self centered, judgmental
